Hill Physicians Medical Group Announces Record Pay for Performance Bonuses to Doctors
Total Awards to Network Primary Care Physicians Up 50% vs. 2004
San Ramon, CA (June 1, 2006)— With the release of its 2005 Annual Report, Hill Physicians Medical Group announced today that $26 million in bonuses was distributed to Hill Physicians doctors in 2005. Of the money distributed, $6 million came from financial awards that the medical group earned by participating in California’s Pay for Performance Initiative, a statewide program to promote efficiency and better medical care. The remainder was the result of Hill Physicians’ own internal incentive program that rewards physicians for clinical outcomes, utilization of electronic initiatives, and patient satisfaction.
“These are commendable results,” said Steve McDermott, CEO of Hill Physicians. “We continue to demonstrate the benefits of our partnership with our physicians and the attention to quality clinical outcomes for the patients we serve. We continue to focus on innovations that will improve the quality and cost of medical care.”
The Hill Physicians Annual Report also shows that revenues increased 26% to $416 million. Net income was $7 million, 1.6% of total revenue, helping support an aggressive investment in electronic medical records (EMR) for physicians in Hill’s network. In addition, Hill Physicians’ annual satisfaction survey reports that physician satisfaction levels are at all-time highs.
“Hill Physicians is committed to improving the practice of medicine and the lives of our doctors and the health plan members for whom we provide medical care,” said Art Stanten, Chairman of the Hill Board of Directors.
