Benefits of Hill Physicians EHR
Why should my practice implement the Hill Physicians’ EHR solution?
Hill EHR gives physicians a cost-effective solution for consolidating all patient records – across all sources of care – into a single database. This paperless system facilitates clinical workflow by managing all data related to patient care, treatment, outcomes, scheduling, billing and reporting.
With Hill EHR, independent practices have access to the best information technology available at a price that is affordable. Hill Physicians has been able to leverage our size as a large medical group and utilize our in-house development team in collaboration with NextGen to obtain customization and significantly lower prices than what would be available to practices if they purchased an EHR system separately. In addition, our practices have access to our team of implementation and support experts.
Patients and Patient Data
Can I use the EHR solution for all of my patients?
Yes. Our Hill EHR system is designed so practices can use it for all patients, not just those who are Hill Physicians members.
Who will own my patient data? Will Hill Physicians have access to patient data, including the data of non-Hill Physicians patients?
Your practice will continue to own your patient data. However, one of the advantages of using Hill EHR is that it facilitates clinical information-sharing between providers; this data also supports the clinical and quality reporting requirements that directly benefit Hill Physicians and our providers (e.g., Pay for Performance). To support this quality initiative, practices that use Hill EHR will need to extract their clinical data into a centralized clinical data repository.
To provide implementation and support services, our staff will have as needed access to your practice’s data. All data access is within regulatory requirements as set forth by HIPAA and other state and federal regulations.
Implementation Timelines and Integration with Other Systems
How quickly can Hill Physicians implement the EHR in my practice?
The speed of a Hill EHR implementation depends on a number of variables, including practice size, number of office locations and the status of an existing practice management system. In addition, implementation speed is also affected by the level of commitment of all providers in a practice to fully adopt Hill EHR for documenting patient care electronically at the point of care. We will work with you to identify these variables during the initial assessment phase.
For an average-sized practice, the implementation timeline is 12 to 18 weeks.
Must I give up my current practice management system in order to adopt Hill EHR?
Yes. The Hill EHR is a fully integrated system including a practice management (EPM) and EHR components. You will need to purchase both to take full advantage of the system. We will provide assistance to electronically convert your existing patient demographic information into the Hill EHR.
How easy is it to convert an existing EHR system to the Hill Physicians’ solution?
During the evaluation process, the Hill EHR implementation team will determine how best to approach your data conversion needs.
We use an outside billing service. Can we implement the Hill Physicians’ EHR solution?
Yes, most likely you can. During our initial assessment phase with your office staff, we will examine the details of how the data flows to and from your billing service to make a final determination.
Does the Hill Physicians’ EHR integrate with other eSolutions from Hill Physicians, such as Hill inSite, RelayHealth and eClaims?
Hill EHR solution currently integrates with RelayHealth. There are minor adjustments to your workflow among these components and the training process will ensure your practice is well-versed in the streamlined steps. There are plans to integrate other eSolutions products with the Hill EHR.
Costs and Contract Terms
What is the cost of Hill EHR?
We offer an all-inclusive, per-physician, per-month pricing package for Hill EHR that includes software, ASP hosting, implementation, training and support. The monthly fee for each practice differs depending on the number of physicians, number of office locations and other factors. We are confident you will find the pricing affordable and its all-inclusive nature preferable that what you would discover from external vendors.
The fee comprises three components:
-
One time start-up cost for software license, implementation and training.
-
Hosting and connectivity.
-
Ongoing maintenance and support that includes testing, follow-up training, help desk and software maintenance.
Can a practice contract directly with NextGen for the EHR and EPM?
Yes. However, if you contract directly with NextGen, you are not eligible for the negotiated pricing discounts or for the licensing and support options available through the Hill Physicians contract with NextGen.
Do you offer financial assistance for an EHR implementation?
Hill EHR is very competitively priced with low start-up costs. At this point there are no speciall financial arrangements available. However, we can help practices with the paperwork necessary to apply for EHR implementation funding as made available through the stimulus package (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009) once all details are available.
What are the contractual terms?
The base contract is a five-year agreement. The most important requirement is that your practice must remain a participating Hill Physicians provider and the majority of the providers at a practice location must be “par” providers. We also require a standardized configuration for hardware, software and support, and providers must agree to exchange data with the Hill Physicians clinical data repository.
Practices across Northern California rely on Hill EHR and attest they would never go back to paper charts and piecemeal processes. See what users are saying….
