Teleclass Phone Etiquette
Being part of a teleclass may be a whole new experience for you. We have found that certain phone etiquette makes the teleclass experience clearer and more enjoyable for everyone. Please keep these guidelines handy when participating in a teleclass.
Tips for calling into the teleclass
-
Put your dogs, kids and other noisemakers into another room.
-
Use a landline or portable phone - problems arise with cell phones and computer/Internet-based calls.
-
If you have the call waiting feature, please temporarily disable it by dialing *70 and waiting for the dial tone.
-
Use your phone’s receiver or hands-free headset. If you are using a headset, make sure it is close to your mouth so everyone can hear you. Please do not use a speakerphone.
-
Dial the assigned teleclass toll free number at the scheduled time and enter the access code when prompted. Please call on time so the class can start on time. (Please do not call more than five minutes early.)
-
If you call in before your instructor, the line might be silent until the instructor begins the call.
-
When you are speaking during the class, be sure to introduce yourself each time, as others may not recognize your voice right away.
-
Please do not put the teleclass on hold at any time during the call. If you need to leave the call for a few minutes, set the handset/headset down.
-
The leader will notify you when the class has ended. Please hang up promptly, as other teleconferences may be scheduled.
Contacting us between teleclasses
Please don’t call the teleclass toll-free number at any other time than during your scheduled time. The system is totally automatic; there is no operator. If you need to speak with someone between classes, please contact the Member Health Improvement Department at (800) 445-5747.
