Baked Steak with Creole Sauce

Ingredients

2 teaspoons olive oil
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup green pepper, chopped
8 ounces canned tomatoes
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 pound boneless round steak

Directions

In large skillet, over medium heat, heat oil. Add onions and green pepper and sauté until onions are translucent (about five minutes). Add tomatoes and seasonings; cover and let simmer over low heat for 20 to 25 minutes.

Trim all visible fat off steak. In a nonstick pan or pan sprayed with nonstick cooking spray, lightly brown steak on each side. Transfer steak to a 13x9x2-inch baking dish; pour sauce over steak and cover.

Bake at 350° for 1-1/4 hours or until steak is tender. Remove from oven; slice steak and arrange on a serving platter. Spoon sauce over steak and serve.
