Hill Physicians Inks Deal to Affiliate with
Santa Clara County Independent Practice Association
SAN RAMON — Hill Physicians Medical Group (Hill Physicians) has entered into an agreement for Santa Clara County Independent Practice Association (SCCIPA) to join the Hill Physicians enterprise. As part of that agreement, Hill Physicians would also acquire SCCIPA’s management services organization, Pacific Partners Management Services, Inc. (PPMSI), from an affiliate of HCA Healthcare.
Hill Physicians is the largest Independent Physician Association in Northern California, with 6,000-plus physicians serving more than 400,000 patients across 14 counties. The addition of SCCIPA and PPMSI would not only add a new county to its coverage area but also bring about 1,000 new physicians and other providers into the network.
SCCIPA has served physicians and patients in Santa Clara County for decades, supporting a network of independent primary care and specialty physicians. Through this transaction, Hill Physicians intends to bring its scale, infrastructure and managed care capabilities to support SCCIPA’s physician network, while maintaining continuity for physicians, patients and health plans.

With Santa Clara County, Hill Physicians would have a presence in all nine counties of the Bay Area, including San Mateo, San Francisco, Alameda and Contra Costa, noted Joyner, calling the addition a natural extension of the organization’s service area. The transaction would also create an opportunity for Hill Physicians to partner with SCCIPA’s existing network serving Santa Clara County patients.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including applicable regulatory approvals. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
