Preventive Guidelines

Prevention starts with screenings. Hill recommends completing vaccinations in a timely manner to protect your family and prevent diseases from spreading. Preventive immunizations and health screenings continue to be of importance throughout your adult life. These guidelines are general in nature. We recommend following the judgment and experience of your physician who has been informed by these standards of care and how they may apply to your specific case.

In order to provide up-to-date and definitive preventive care guidance for our providers, Hill Physicians has adopted the following nationally recognized guidelines:

Pediatrics

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the CDC recommends that children should stay up-to-date on their immunizations, especially those under 24 months of age.

Bright Futures, developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), offers additional information on well-child visits and immunizations. View Bright Futures’ recommendations.

  • Multiple resources are available on the website.
  • Immunization schedules are approved jointly by the AAP and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) as well as the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Adults

View the guide to Clinical Preventive Services, developed by the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF). Hill Physicians endorses their free smartphone/iPad app called ePSS (Electronic Preventive Services Selector), which is available on their website. The site also has ePSS widgets for quick use by clinicians and patients.

  • The USPSTF points to the ACIP for immunization guidance.
